Maria Isabel Parra: Engraving

Engraving allows me to submerge in the abstraction itself of textures and colour. In the same way I love this surprise effect which I find after each print. Even if each print comes from the same mould, each one has something different. It is not possible to control the result of the print one hundred percent, you get unforeseeable results, and in general these surprises are quite interesting.

The practice of this technique demands certain physical mobility; you need to be skilful and fast. Sometimes I get the impression of having done a few hours of sport, and as I need the sensation of feeling my body in movement, and being sedentary makes me slow down, thus the execution of this technique in itself relates to my character.

El grabado es una t�cnica que me permite sumergir en la abstracci�n misma de las texturas y el color. Igualmente me gusta ese efecto sorpresa con el que me encuentro luego de cada impresi�n. Aunque cada impresi�n viene de una misma plancha, entre una y otra hay algo diferente. No es posible controlar al cien por ciento el resultado de la impresi�n, algunos efectos son imprevistos y es por eso que hay sorpresas, en general bien interesantes.

La pr�ctica de �sta t�cnica me exige cierta movilidad f�sica, hay que ser �gil y r�pido a la vez. A veces tengo la impresi�n de haber realizado algunas horas de deporte y como tengo gran necesidad de sentir mi cuerpo en movimiento...y el sedentarismo me deprime, entonces es una t�cnica que en su ejecuci�n misma se identifica con mi personalidad.
